Sapphire Traditional Archery

Sapphire Hawk Longbows

Sapphire Hawk Longbows are built by Ernie McKenzie in Billings, Montana. In 2005 I inherited the design from a longtime bowyer out of Trout Creek, Montana named Bob Hawkinson. Bob taught me how to build a bow in the winter of 2004, then tragically, was taken to his maker a short year later. Bob's wife and brother gave me their blessings to use Bob's design, as I wanted to pursue "at least" a part time bowyer business.

Sapphire Hawk Longbows have been proven in the field and at the range. A blend of speed, quietness, low handshock and great stability seem to get it compliments from every shooter that tries it.

I was sold on the design from the first arrow I shot at Bob's range in Trout Creek. Every arrow since has been a joy!

The bows pictured above have Red Elm limbs. The bow on the left is Bubinga
with Maple and Ipe Accents, while the bow on the right is Rosewood Dymondwood
with Ipe and White Glass Accents.
